When Barbara Shands of Shands Studio envisioned this modern home in Marin County, CA, a desire for "direct access to the outdoors and visual connection to the surrounding landscape", led her to specify Quantum's Signature Series Windows and Lift & Slide Doors.

Quantum Signature Series Windows are designed here with 2 ¾ inch mullions and incorporate both direct set units and push-out and roto-operated sashes with four bar stainless steel friction hinges, bronze sash weather-stripping, and egress functioning on select elevations. The roto-operated sashes are equipped with Truth Encore hand operated handles and clerestory pole cranks. The windows are fitted with aluminum framed interior lift-out insect screens with black fiberglass mesh and gray screen frames.

Keeping with Barbara's vision of "the exterior patio and cantilevered deck to be an extension of the living spaces", the home's design incorporates four 2-panel Lift & Slide Doors. The door units operate with FFI stainless steel carriage systems, and like all Quantum products in this project, are built from douglas fir with interior rectangular sticking and exterior beveled glazing stops.
