Overview
We proudly present Balcones House by Mell Lawrence Architects, a recent highlight on the 2016 AIA Austin Homes Tour.
The main floor of this private residence is constructed with concrete walls incorporating a custom Pivot Entry Door and several Lift & Slide Door Systems, the largest of which faces the backyard and pool. This impressive three operable panel system spans 30 feet and gives the homeowners the flexibility of sliding each panel to either side or to have all panels centrally stacked.
The upper floor has no true exterior walls, only our Classic Series Windows spanning all four sides of the building. Ten-foot tall casement windows are distributed among fixed window wall units to provide egress and ventilation, utilizing multi-point hardware to ensure ease of operation, stability and security. The exterior system transitions from glass to insect screen near the rear of the house to create a comfortable screened porch accessible by Quantum Entry Doors.
