Overview
The Ladd Carriage House, built by William S. Ladd in 1883, was relocated and renovated with the help of Portland's expert historians, architects and contractors. Quantum provided exact architectural replicas of the building's windows and doors in clear vertical grain (CVG) douglas fir. All door sills are teak with epoxy applied at door sill bottoms to prevent water penetration. Custom profiles feature interior ogee sticking and exterior beveled glazing stops. Glazing is specified Cardinal insulated glass units with dark bronze aluminum spacers.
To uphold historical integrity, Quantum built twenty-eight custom single hung Legacy Series Windows with true divided lites complete with Bronze Craft oil rubbed bronze latch and pull hardware. Throughout the three story building we also see several fixed sash units and spectacular radial fixed sashes with curved t-bars.
Quantum provided single and double out-swing doors from our Hinged Series featuring Stanley full mortise butt hinges in dark oil rubbed bronze, and with non-removable pins. Door panels are split to incorporate both tongue and groove below and tdl's above.
